I held a bird in my hand and time drew out its hours,
It would fly and then re-land strolling amid the flowers.
Peaceful and serene it sang a tune I didn't know,
Charmed, I watched the pretty bird who had no mind to go.

I picked the sweet bird up again—a marvel of its kind!
I held the poor thing close to me, knowing it was mine.
Then my hands began to shake and scared the bird I touched,
Without thinking my grasp was shrinking and the bird I crushed.

So it is with pretty things and things I like anew,
So it was with the ugly me and how much I loved you.

Last night I had an idea
For the poem that would make my life
But you were sitting next to me
And suddenly
The only thing that mattered
Is the only thing that matters
Your hand on mine
That smile in your eyes
And the way we breathe together

Mine expelling in your mouth.

Things I've never had stretch out before me
And I can grasp them
For the first time, they seem real.

The Eye and IThe Eye and I
You know what dream I had once (when I was hopefully, painfully young)?
I dreamed, well, I wished, that one day I would see with both eyes—and then I thought I would be whole.
Born with a micropthalmic right eye that was eventually removed, I have always warred against myself and my vision, and have never seen anything good about my situation.

I'm awake

We comprimised. By the end of the day we were both happy and he discovered that my plan was actually thrifty and fun.

Of course, it took a lot of crying before he changed his mind. So yes, we have to wok on some things, but my assessment that he's reverting was probably made in haste.
