Look how happy she is!
her opalescent skin
her long red hair
the silk and the satin
the royal, velvet blue--
So much happier than you.
Look how thoughtful she is!
A half, sheepish smile
her fist on her chin
the 1000 mile stare
glittering like gems--
She basks in her reasons.
Look how mighty she is!
Brave like a tiger
coniferous and bellicose
full of brimstone and fire
She has courage, and so much of that--
While you don't even know how to act.
She is a paragon, a pillar
strength, beauty and resolve
yet still something is unquiet within her
as her head nods just slightly
and then nods no more--
This echelon of a woman
was found dead on her floor
her opalescent skin
her long red hair
the silk and the satin
the royal, velvet blue--
So much happier than you.

The Journey
Beneath my skin, my veins pulse with desire
To know why I am here.
As I journey to find the answers to life,
I sail through the monotonous seas
That stretch forever beyond the horizon.
As my ship sails towards the dry land,
Mountains tower before me,
Filling me with both awe and intimidation.
But the mountains are eroding as time passes by,
Into merely fragments of what they once were.
I move my eyes and watch the glaciers
Melt slowly into rivers.
But even though they disappear,
They melt to provide water for all life on this planet.
You could say rivers are created by glaciers for a purpose.
I ponder those mountains and glac

Fear
There is this feeling I cannot shake
Something follows me slithering like a snake
I fear there is something that is creepy
Hiding under my bed when I feel sleepy
I hear the howling of vicious hounds
The beasts malicious and escaping from pounds
I hear maniacal laugh of a clown
I see the undead crawl and frown
There are things stalking me in the dark
Children have been abducted by creatures hiding in the park
There are things unknown hiding just out of sight
These are the thoughts that fill me with fright

This is a pretty trite satire, but I think it might resonate with some and hopefully quell any similar ruminations in those that read it.

Reminded me of this: www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/… I actually wrote a poem for an English class a couple of years ago that made my teacher think of this poem; mine isn't on deviantArt, because I want to publish it as part of a collection which I can't do to my satisfaction here.
Nonetheless, this is a great poem; I enjoy the descriptive language and the twist; I've seen it before, I've written that twist myself, but I didn't see it coming.
